The full feature guide
Make time for your feeds.
A reader that makes room for the publications you follow, the stories you save, and the way you like to read.
Free and open-source. View source

Follow your favorite corners of the web
- RSS, Atom, and JSON Feed — Paste a feed URL or let Tyler discover feeds from a website. Import OPML from a file or link, or drop an OPML file into the app.
- A useful starting point — Browse 90+ curated publications, search by name or category, and subscribe to several at once in a shared folder.
- Folders and tags — Drag feeds between folders, edit feed names and URLs, and add color-coded tags across your library.
- Refresh on your schedule — Set per-feed intervals, refresh manually, or pause periodic updates. Choose optional notifications and unread badges.

A reader you can make your own
- Three-pane reading — Resize the article list and adjust the reader typeface, text size, line width, and density. Choose light, dark, or system themes and reduced motion.
- Full articles and offline images — Fetch full text on demand or automatically when opening a story. Saved text and cached images stay available offline.
- Smart views and search — All, Unread, Starred, Today, and Archive views have live counts. Search article text, titles, authors, and feed names locally; find words within the open article.
- Media and export — Play podcast/video enclosures and supported YouTube/Vimeo embeds. Export an article as Markdown, or print and save a PDF using your system print dialog.

Optional summaries with your own endpoint
- Your model and prompt — Configure an OpenAI-compatible base URL, API key, model ID, and prompt. A compatible local server can keep summarization on your machine.
- Only when requested — Summaries are disabled by default. Article text goes to your configured endpoint only when you choose Summarize.
- Keep reading — Browse while a summary generates, then copy the result. Generated summaries stay in memory for the app session, outside your saved library and backups.
- Local settings — Endpoint settings and any API key are stored locally and included in exported backups. Optional input/output word limits let you control the request.

Your library goes with you
- Portable backups — Export a
.tyler.ziparchive of your library, settings, and cached media. Restore validates the backup and keeps a safety copy. - Subscriptions you can move — OPML import/export preserves folder structure.
- A tidy collection — Archive stories, star favorites, view reading statistics, and set automatic retention. Cleanup preserves unread and starred articles.
- Local storage — Library data lives in
~/.tyler-rss/by default, or%USERPROFILE%\.tyler-rsson Windows. Open it from Settings → Feeds & storage.

Content support and connections
- Public article pages — Extraction does not bypass paywalls or sign-in. Pages rendered entirely by JavaScript may require Open original.
- Streaming and embeds — Original pages and streamed audio/video contact their providers and need a network connection and system webview codec support.
- No app telemetry — Feed, article, media, and OPML requests support the features you use.
- Website and app privacy — This store uses Umami page and link analytics. Read Tyler’s complete network disclosure for app-specific requests.
