Serverbox — All features
Connect to your Linux servers and handle everyday administration from one desktop workspace.
Free and open-source. View source on GitHub.
Connections & credentials
- Multiple servers — Save server profiles, organize them into groups, search servers and notes, and switch between workspace tabs.
- Flexible SSH sign-in — Connect with a password or private key, import existing SSH configurations, and reach servers through a bastion host.
- Encrypted credential vault — Protect saved passwords, key passphrases, and sudo credentials with a local master password.
- Host identity checks — Review host fingerprints before trusting a new server, and get a warning when a known server's identity changes.
- No remote agent — Manage servers over SSH without installing a Serverbox agent on them.
Terminals & reusable commands
- Tabbed terminals — Keep interactive SSH terminals open as you move between server views, with resizing, copy and paste, and reconnect support.
- Saved commands — Name and reuse commands for one server or across all server profiles, then review their output in the app.
- Server notes — Keep local notes with each server profile.
- SSH tunnels — Save, start, and stop local or remote port forwards and SOCKS5 proxies, and see their current status.
Monitoring & troubleshooting
- Server overview — Check CPU, memory, disks, network interfaces, uptime, and load.
- Process management — Inspect running processes and stop a process when needed.
- System services — Inspect supported services, start, stop, restart, reload, enable, or disable them, and review recent service logs.
- Log viewer — Read system and file logs, adjust the time range and line count, search entries, and follow live output.
- Network activity — Inspect listening ports and active connections to see which services are using the network.
- Disk explorer — Find large files and directories, inspect disk and inode usage, and review container storage and log-directory usage.
Remote files & transfers
- File browser — Browse remote folders, show hidden files, search loaded entries, and inspect sizes, permissions, and ownership.
- Remote editing — Open and edit text files directly, create folders, and delete files.
- Uploads and downloads — Transfer files or entire folders, including drag-and-drop uploads, with progress and cancellation.
- Access controls — Change file permissions and ownership from the browser.
Containers & Compose
- Docker and Podman — Browse containers and inspect their configuration, runtime statistics, and logs.
- Container lifecycle — Create, start, stop, restart, pause, resume, and remove containers, or open an interactive shell inside one.
- Images and storage — Pull and manage images, and inspect or manage container volumes and networks.
- Compose projects — Discover Compose projects, manage their services, and scale services from the app.
Scheduling & server administration
- Scheduled jobs — Create, edit, enable, disable, and remove user crontab jobs.
- APT packages — Browse packages, inspect package details, and run supported package-management actions on APT-based servers.
- Users and groups — Manage Linux accounts and groups, change group memberships, and reset user passwords.
- Authorized SSH keys — Review key fingerprints and add or remove authorized public keys.
- Firewall rules — Review and change UFW or firewalld rules, including ports, protocols, and source restrictions where supported.
- Security overview — Check available software and security updates, kernel information, and whether a reboot is required.
- Maintenance actions — Update package indexes, restart SSH or Docker, install common tools, clear page cache, or schedule a reboot or shutdown, with confirmations for disruptive actions.
Desktop workspace
- Adjustable interface — Resize the interface from 80% to 200% to suit your display.
- Capability awareness — The app detects available server tools and explains when an administration feature is unavailable.
Good to know
- Administration features depend on the Linux distribution, installed tools, and your account permissions. Terminal and file browsing require SSH access.
